Through love to light! Oh, wonderful the way
That leads from darkness to the perfect day!
– Richard Watson Gilder
Join Delaware Choral Arts at Grace UMC in Wilmington DE on November 22, 2025 at 4pm as we present our Fall concert “Through Love to Light- On Wings of Song.”
Elaine Hagenberg’s buoyant setting of Through Love to Light provides the thematic anchor for this concert that explores love’s many faces – from unrequited to unbounded joy – across centuries of musical styles.
Liebeslieder Waltzes is Johannes Brahms’ Romantic collection of folk songs for four (!) hands on piano. Sometimes playful, sometimes serious, but always moving forward in the Ländler style. The concert also features Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs. These delicate postcards are made even more touching with the addition of Delaware’s own Lisa Vaupel on solo violin.
We sing of passionate love with Gwyneth Walker’s I Will Be Earth and Rosephanye Powell’s interpretation of the Song of Solomon, Arise, Beloved.
And finally, Gwyneth Walker’s On Wings of Song and Kim Andre Arensen’s Flight Song embody Delaware Choral Arts’ best wishes for our audience and colleagues: finding joy, love and peace in a community of friends and in the songs themselves.
Grace UMC is at 900 Washington St, Wilmington, Delaware and is an accessible venue. There is ample free parking in the parking lots adjacent to the church and across Washington St.
Live-stream ticket may still be purchased. You need only purchase one live-stream ticket per household and the live-stream link will be active for at least a month so you may watch (and rewatch!) at your leisure.
